Meet Sawyer — Devoted, Fetch-Obsessed, and Looking for a Savvy Home

Fostered in Plymouth, IN | 3 Years Old | Border Collie Mix

Sawyer is a loving, loyal dog with a huge heart for his people. With those he knows and trusts, he’s affectionate, gentle, and incredibly devoted. He’s also a pretty calm boy overall — unless you bring out a tennis ball. Then he turns into a fetch machine!

Sawyer does need a specific kind of home, one that understands boundaries, management, and advocating for a sensitive dog.

What to know about Sawyer:

Very affectionate with his people — forms deep bonds
LOVES to fetch — truly his favorite thing in life
	 Not good with unfamiliar people

He has to be properly managed around strangers
Needs slow, structured introductions and a home that will set clear boundaries

	 Good with familiar dogs
Can be reactive or rude with unfamiliar dogs
	 Seems fine with cats
️ Calm overall when he feels safe and understood

Sawyer is a good boy who wants nothing more than a person (or family) he can trust completely. In the right home — one experienced with sensitive dogs and comfortable managing introductions — he will thrive as a loyal, loving, deeply bonded companion.

If you’re looking for a dog who will adore you, stick by your side, and fetch until your arm falls off, Sawyer might be your guy.

Salem — A Stunning Girl with a Heart of Gold Salem is a sweet older puppy, just under a year old, who loves attention and is fabulous with other dogs! She does well in her crate and rides comfortably crated in the car. Food-motivated and ready to learn, she should be lots of fun to train.
Salem was found as a stray in Southern Indiana alongside Ash and Binx. The shelter believes they may be littermates who were abandoned by their previous owner. Her breed mix is a mystery—perhaps Cattle Dog, Border Collie, or Australian Shepherd—but that’s just our guess!
She’s brand new to rescue, and her foster family is still getting to know her. Stay tuned for more about this lovely girl!

From silly upside-down snoozes to soulful puppy eyes, Leroy is the definition of a loyal, snuggly best friend. This 2-year-old Australian Cattle Dog is playful, smart, and oh-so-loving—just waiting for his perfect person to share all the cuddles with.

Fostered in Grovertown, IN | ~2 years old | Australian Cattle Dog | Housetrained

Leroy is the total package—affectionate, fun, and incredibly loyal. He LOVES cuddling on the couch, snuggling into warm blankets fresh from the dryer, and rubbing his face on yours when he wants attention.

Squeaky ball fanatic
Completed obedience classes—smart and eager to please
Great in the car and enjoys short walks
Excellent house manners
Showing wonderful improvement on leash around distractions, including other dogs

Leroy would do best as the only dog in his home or could live with a submissive female dog. While he’s sweet and friendly with people (just ask his vet team!), he’s happiest and most relaxed when he doesn’t have to share his space with more dominant dogs.

Leroy may display reactivity toward certain dogs and requires active management during such encounters, particularly in confined spaces such as elevators and hallways. Due to these tendencies, Leroy is not well-suited for apartment living. Leroy would thrive in a calm, adult-only home -- perfect for a single person or a couple looking for a loyal, snuggly companion in a home where interactions with unfamiliar dogs can be minimized and managed appropriately. Leroy is NOT SUITED FOR AN APARTMENT .

If you’ve been waiting for that one special dog to be your best friend, Leroy is your guy!

Maeve Fostered in Plymouth, IN ~2 Years Old | Smooth Coat BC × ACD Mix
Maeve is a striking black-and-white girl you can’t help but notice.
Maeve is a soft, thoughtful dog. She can be cautious with new faces at first, but she warms up with a little time and space. Once she feels safe, she’s affectionate, loyal, and loves being close to her person.
A 45-minute car ride would most likely be enough time for Maeve to become comfortable with someone. She may always be a bit suspicious of unfamiliar people, but she settles in quickly and does very well once she knows you.
She’s crate trained and housetrained, rides nicely in the car, and does well with other dogs (especially calmer companions). She’s an easy dog to live with once she understands her environment. She’s also great for handling — fine with baths, nail trims, and being touched all over once she’s comfortable.
Maeve has a strong instinct to chase squirrels and may rush toward unfamiliar people, so a secure, fenced yard will be important to keep her safe and help prevent unwanted situations.
Maeve at a glance: • Beautiful black & white coat — total eye candy • Crate trained & housetrained • Cautious with new people, but warms up reliably • Affectionate and loyal once she knows you • Good with other dogs (prefers calmer companions) • Rides well in the car • Needs a home with a secure, physical fenced yard • Has not been tested with children
Maeve will do best in a patient home that lets her settle in at her own pace. Once she does, she’s an easy, devoted companion and a really special dog to have by your side.
Please contact stephodellbc@hotmail.com if you have any questions about Maeve. You can complete an application to adopt Maeve or any of the dogs on our website at www.comebyebcrescue.org .

Poppy Seed (Poppy for short) is a 5 year old female BC mix with a rescuer in Columbia, IL, who was able to remove Poppy from a situation in which she was subject to mistreatment. The rescuer is seeking a forever home for Poppy where she will be loved, trained, and helped to recover from her early years.
Her rescuer describes her:
Poppy is an approximately 5 year old Border Collie. She came from a bad home [and needs a home that will] give her the time and attention she needs. Poppy is very sweet and snuggly, playful, can be independent, easy to please, and is very well behaved when home alone.
She learns pretty quickly and enjoys making you happy in her growth. Her favorite toy is the jolly ball or herding ball. She loves to play "goalie." Sometimes she asks for "uppies," but doesn't like the process of being put back down. LOVES hugs if not okay with "uppies." Loves walks and is good on leash. Sometimes can get a bit excited of course, but doesn't pull badly when she is excited. She's been a treat to have around! Her only real issues are being fearful in the crate, and sometimes with her food. We have been working on this, and she's been doing well!
Poppy has not been around children or cats, and she will need to be tested for heartworm and put on monthly preventive.
If you want to know more about Poppy or set up a meeting with her, please contact her rescuer at samantha.cuebas5@gmail.com
