MEET RUTHIE &mdash; A GENTLE, CLUMSY GIRL LOOKING FOR HER PERSON
Ruthie is a beautiful 1.5&ndash;2-year-old, 59 lb. yellow dog who looks like she may have some Anatolian Shepherd or Boxer in her mix. Her personality, though, is more Great Dane or Great Pyrenees: gentle, steady, loyal, and happiest near her people. She has short bursts of playful energy, followed by long, peaceful naps.
Ruthie came into rescue after surviving on her own for several months in the Nashville area. Because of that, she can be cautious in new situations and needs an adopter who understands that trust may take a little time. Once she bonds, though, she bonds deeply. In her foster home, Ruthie has become loving, relaxed, and very attached to her person.
She is house-trained, quiet in the home, gentle taking treats, and has never had an accident in her foster home. She enjoys hiking, dog park trips, squirrel patrol, mud, water, shade, and then settling down for a good nap. She has a sweet, clumsy play style and sometimes seems like she is still figuring out where all four legs are supposed to go.
Ruthie is wonderful with other dogs and plays gently with dog friends of all sizes. She is also easy and gentle with children, greeting them with the same soft, cautious curiosity she uses with new adults. She would likely enjoy having a confident dog friend, but what she wants most is a person or family to belong to.
Ruthie is not a dog who would thrive being left alone all day with limited interaction. A work-from-home adopter, active household, or home with another friendly dog would be a great fit.
Because Ruthie is smart, strong, and resourceful, her forever family should be prepared to use extra safety precautions during the transition period. A fenced yard is strongly preferred. We also recommend a martingale collar, double leash setup, and an AirTag or GPS collar until she is fully settled and bonded.
Ruthie is not difficult. She just needs someone thoughtful, patient, and confident enough to help her feel safe. She has already proven that once she trusts you, she is incredibly loyal and loving.
RUTHIE&rsquo;S IDEAL HOME:
- Patient, confident adopter
- Fenced yard preferred
- Another friendly dog would be a plus, any size or disposition
- Work-from-home or active family preferred
- Someone willing to use transition safety tools at first
- A home that understands cautious dogs can become the most devoted companions
Ruthie is being fostered in Tennessee. Tennessee adoption is preferred, but Critter Cavalry does transport to the Northeast weekly for the right adopter.

This handsome 3-year-old Aussiedoodle weighs about 80 pounds at the moment, but don't let the extra fluff fool you&mdash;he's already working on a healthier lifestyle after spending his early years enjoying a little too much people food. His former owner adored him and spoiled him with table scraps, so now Knox is discovering that dog food, daily walks, and playtime are the recipe for feeling his best.  Knox's world changed forever when his beloved mom unexpectedly passed away this spring. Since then, he's been missing what he treasures most: having someone to love.  If you're looking for a loyal sidekick, Knox checks all the boxes. He's house-trained, walks nicely on a leash, loves children, and has a gentle, affectionate personality that makes everyone feel like they're his favorite person. Whether you're heading out for a walk, spending time in the backyard, or loading up the car for a weekend adventure, Knox will happily be right by your side.  He's looking for a family that enjoys being active and will help him continue his fitness journey. A fenced yard for games of fetch, daily walks, and plenty of quality time together would be his dream come true.  While Knox hasn't officially met cats, he politely ignores the neighborhood cats he sees during walks, so we think he has the makings of a respectful housemate with proper introductions. Meet Maple &mdash; A Little Terrier With a BIG Heart!Maple is one of those special dogs who seems to love everyone she meets. At 8 years old and 16 pounds, this sweet Terrier mix has the most loving heart and an easygoing, happy personality that makes her an absolute joy to be around. She especially adores children and would love to be part of a family where she can stay busy, have adventures, and then curl up with her people when the day is done.Maple is the total package when it comes to the important stuff&mdash;she is house trained and crate trained, and she is ready to be your devoted companion from day one. She does pull a little on the leash because she gets excited about all the wonderful things there are to see and smell, but she loves going for walks and is eager to explore. With some consistent training and a confident handler, we think she will learn those leash manners in no time.And Maple is definitely not looking for a life spent sitting on the couch all day! This girl has energy and she wants to use it. She loves hiking, running with her person, going for long walks, and simply being outside enjoying the world. A securely fenced yard is required because she loves having the freedom to safely run and explore off leash. Her recall still needs some work, so her future family will need to continue working with her on that.The perfect family for Maple would be active people who enjoy getting outside and want a four-legged adventure buddy. She would be wonderful for someone who hikes, runs, walks regularly, or simply wants a dog who is excited to join them in an active lifestyle. She could thrive with a single person, a couple, or a family with older children.But here&rsquo;s the best part about Maple: once she has had her exercise, explored the world, and spent time with her people, she is perfectly happy to settle down and cuddle. They only thing &ldquo;sly&rdquo; about this young man is his name!&nbsp;&nbsp;There is nothing cunning or deceitful about this sweet boy.&nbsp;&nbsp;In fact, Sly is one of the calmest kitties I have ever taken in.&nbsp;&nbsp;He warmed up to me and to all the other foster kitties almost immediately.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was not fazed by the occasional hiss or growl from the existing fosters - he would just turn and go the other way.&nbsp;&nbsp;I honestly don&rsquo;t think there is a mean bone in his body!&nbsp;&nbsp;

Born around April 2026, Sly and his litter mate, Gabby Girl, are both friendly little loves.&nbsp;&nbsp;They greet me in their kitty room with both motors running in perfect stereo.&nbsp;&nbsp;Head rubs and ear scratches, please!&nbsp;&nbsp;They patiently wait for me to pull out their favorite wand toy, complete with a bell and feather bird on the end.&nbsp;&nbsp;Sly can jump pretty high, but he is a gentleman and lets Gabby grab it first.&nbsp;&nbsp;Sly is not a big talker nor a big eater.&nbsp;&nbsp;He is just an easy-going kitty and, well, chill.&nbsp;&nbsp;And, oh so handsome!&nbsp;&nbsp;Look at those eyes!&nbsp;&nbsp;Sly has the kindest eyes to go with his gentle personality.&nbsp;&nbsp;From his white, soft fur, to his black tabby stripes, down to his white tip on his tail, he is a real heart-stealer.&nbsp;&nbsp;He has quickly and easily become one of this foster mom&rsquo;s favorite.&nbsp;&nbsp;This one is a keeper, from head to tail!&nbsp;&nbsp;
