Overview

Meet willie, a handsome 5-year-old, 14 lb miniature dachshund with a soulful gaze and a deep devotion to his person.

Willie came to Little Paws Dachshund Rescue after his owner made the difficult decision to surrender him in hopes of finding him the right home. Willie is a classic “velcro doxie” loyal, affectionate, and happiest when curled up on the couch beside his human. He’s not a big walker and prefers closeness over adventure, often standing gently on his person just to be near. Once he bonds, Willie is incredibly loving and thrives on companionship.

Environment

Willie does well in a calm, predictable environment with structure and routine. He sleeps comfortably in a kennel overnight and settles best when distractions are limited. While he enjoys short walks, he is still gaining confidence outdoors and currently does best with a combination of potty pads and outdoor breaks. He has begun to sniff and explore more outside and has shown improvement with regular exposure.

Willie can be vocal when people pass in hallways or past his home and may bark when unfamiliar individuals enter his space. He shows some anxiety when his person prepares to leave, so confidence building exercises would be ideal for him. He has also shown great progress in meeting and being around new people. While his initial reaction is reactivity, with an appropriate introduction along with treats he will ultimately end up in their lap too. He enjoys playtime and has been known to get the zoomie, and he recently started playing with his foster dog sibling, which is a great sign that his confidence is growing.

Pets & People

Willie is best suited for an adult-only home. He can be reactive to unfamiliar people, especially when surprised or when they enter his space, and he will communicate discomfort by barking or posturing. Because of this, he needs an adopter who understands canine body language and is comfortable managing introductions and advocating for his space.

With other dogs, Willie does well and has shown positive social behavior, especially when following the lead of calm, confident dogs. He would be happy as an only dog or in a home with another friendly dog.

Willie is extremely affectionate with his person and bonds deeply. He wants to be close, cuddled, and included once trust is built, his loyalty truly shines.

Health

Willie is generally healthy and has recently started fluoxetine to help manage reactivity and anxiety as he continues to adjust and build confidence. He has no other known health concerns at this time. Continued positive-reinforcement training and consistent routines will help him thrive.

Overview

Dewey is an incredibly sweet 1-2 year old tan purebred dachshund who just wants love! He loves to cuddle and will happily follow you around everywhere you go. He is a little nosey and loves to snoop around wherever he has access, keeping things entertaining.

Environment

Dewey is very content to be left to his own devices and is a happy camper in his crate. He would do well in a home with shared walls as he is not too noisy. A fenced yard is not required for him, as he loves walks and is great on a leash. He is fine riding in the car.

Pets & People

He can be a bit shy with new people at first, but he warms up quickly and has no issues with biting or snapping. He gets along great with other dogs, playing all the time with his foster brother (though he does bark at other dogs on his walks). He has no resource guarding issues around food.

Health & Special Needs

Dewey has no medical needs. He uses pee pads but sometimes marks spots in the house, so some patience and continued reinforcement with potty training will be helpful.

Location

Dewey is currently being fostered in Miami, FL. Please email applications@littlepawsdr.org with any questions or submit an application at the button below. Dewey’s adoption fee is $450.00.

Overview

Meet Dolly, an adorable 8-month-old, 10-pound Chihuahua mix with long legs and a beautiful short blond coat! Dolly came to Little Paws because her previous owner did not have the time needed for a puppy. She is an incredibly sweet and playful girl who is ready for a family that can match her joyful energy.

Environment

Dolly is a high-energy puppy who thrives on daily walks and playtime. She loves to go on walks, though she is still learning her leash manners. Dolly requires a home with a fenced yard where she can safely run and play. She is currently using a pen in her foster home and does well in it when left alone. She is also not excessively noisy, making her suitable for a home with shared walls. Dolly is a smart girl who is currently a work in progress with her potty training.

Pets & People

Dolly is great with people and very sweet. While she hasn't been around small children, she would likely do wonderful with older children who can handle her playful puppy energy! She is okay meeting strangers and absolutely loves to play with other dogs. When it comes to meals, she tends to pick at her food during the day and takes treats very nicely. Dolly also does fine on car rides.

Health & Special Needs

Dolly has no known medical needs at this time. She is currently scheduled to be microchipped.

Location

Dolly is available for adoption from Cumming, GA. Please email Pattyp@littlepawsdr.org with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above.

Dolly6 (fostered in Georgia)

Snyder needs to be an only dog.

Overview

Looking for a sweet little lady? Meet Snyder, a mixed breed gal who is estimated at 7-8 years old, weighing 18 pounds with a short black and tan coat. She was rescued from a shelter, and she has been soaking up all of life's simple pleasures ever since.

Snyder is obsessed with two things above all else: food and naps. Mention a treat bag and she will come running, selective hearing won’t apply. She loves sunbathing, lounging on the balcony, and going on slow, meandering sniff walks. Give her a scratch behind the ears and call her a good girl, and she will light right up. This is a girl who has more than earned a soft, comfortable place to call her own.

Environment

Snyder is fully potty trained and does great with an exercise pen rather than a crate. She is very content to be left to her own devices for a while, and she is quiet enough to be a great fit for a home with shared walls. She loves her walks, though she is more of a zigzagging sniffer at the moment than a structured leash walker, and with a little time and patience she would likely learn to walk nicely on one side. A yard is not required, but daily walks are essential since they are one of her favorite parts of the day. She is a little nervous riding elevators but will do so just fine with some gentle encouragement.

Pets & People

Snyder is the biggest love bug once she feels safe and gets to warm up at her own pace. With her people, she happily accepts pets and cuddles and will even let you handle her paws without any fuss. Because she is an older girl who can be skittish with unfamiliar people, she does best without children in the home, and any new people in her life will need to let her come to them rather than reaching out first. She would be a wonderful match for a retired or work-from-home household, or any calm adult home ready to give her the patience she deserves.

Snyder prefers to be your one and only doggo at home. At mealtime she is polite and gentle, and she takes treats from the hand just as sweetly. Her one exception is collagen chews, which she likes to enjoy undisturbed in her pen, and she is perfectly happy to have any other treat or bone taken from her without any issue.

Health & Special Needs

Snyder takes daily supplements to help keep her comfortable and moving well, simple additions to her routine rather than anything complicated. She travels great in the car and loves to nap either up front beside her person or settled into the back seat once she has had a few minutes to relax.

Overview

Meet Dolly, an absolute sweetheart and loving senior lady estimated to be 16+ years young, weighing 8.9 pounds with a gorgeous red coat. Dolly was found on the streets without tags or a microchip before finding her way to Little Paws. She is a total love bug who adores cuddling, being held, and giving the absolute best kisses.

Environment

Dolly has a medium energy level, loves going on walks, and is great when not left entirely alone. She appears trained to go outside and will also use pee pads. While she is fantastic on outings and loves going "shopping" wherever you go, she is not suited for living situations with shared walls because she will bark if left alone.

Pets & People

Dolly is wonderful with people of all ages, including children, and handles touching and petting like a pro. She is great with new people and has been accompanying her foster family everywhere. In a multi-dog home with the resident dachshunds, she was initially a bit scared but has successfully integrated and is now a happy part of the pack.

Food

Dolly is extremely food-driven and makes it known that she wants you to share. She needs her kibble to sit in warm water for a few minutes to soften it up.

Location

Dolly is available for adoption from Miami, FL and loves to ride in the car. Please email applications@littlepawsdr.org with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above.
