Foster Home Feedback

10/10/26 Foster Feedback: Meet Walkman: Professional Velcro Dog
Looking for a loyal best friend, adventure buddy, personal space invader, and occasional supervisor of absolutely everything you do? Walkman would like to submit his application.
Walkman is a big puppy with an even bigger personality and a whole lot of love to give. He’s had his fair share of inconsistency in life, and what this boy really needs is someone willing to make him a permanent part of their world. Not just a dog who lives at your house, but a dog who gets to do life with you.

Let’s talk about the good, the goofy, and the things we’re still working on.
He’s brains AND beauty! Walkman is smart as a whip and genuinely wants to please his people. He’s the kind of dog who would thrive with obedience training, a job, adventures, or activities that challenge his brain. Give him something to learn, and he’ll happily show you just how clever he is.
Stage 5 Clinger. Personal space? Never heard of her. Walkman wants to be involved in EVERYTHING. Cooking dinner? He’s supervising. Doing chores? He’s assisting. Sitting on the couch? Congratulations, you’re now sharing it. If this dog could unzip your jacket, climb inside, and live there permanently, he absolutely would.
Dog-friendly and an absolute social butterfly! Walkman is currently fostered with dogs of all sizes and has done well with them. He especially loves younger, playful dogs who appreciate a good wrestling match. He’s a big, enthusiastic puppy, so his idea of a friendly hello may involve more enthusiasm than some older, less playful dogs appreciate. Strangers: He’s never heard of them. Every person is friend shaped. He may be a bit much for the smaller humans, he is working on keeping his hands to himself.
Fenced in Farm life approved! Walkman has spent plenty of time around farm animals and has done well. That said, he’s still a large puppy learning to navigate the world, so we’d recommend some caution around elderly or fragile animals. Cats should be dog-savvy and comfortable around an enthusiastic canine roommate.
House manners are a work in progress. Walkman is crate trained and is working on perfecting his potty training. He needs frequent opportunities to go outside and a family willing to be consistent, patient, and treat him like the puppy he is. He’s a smart boy, but unfortunately, he did not return with a fully installed potty-training program.
He enjoys his crate as long as a cookie is provided upon entry. Walkman eats his meals in his crate and receives his high-value treats and chews there, too. He may offer a brief vocal performance when first crated, but he settles down after a few minutes. Apparently, he just needs to make sure management is aware of his feelings.
Outdoor enthusiast! In our large fenced area, Walkman generally prefers to stick close to his people. Unless, of course, a bunny appears. Then his ears temporarily stop receiving human transmissions. A secure outdoor space would be absolutely wonderful for this guy.
He is full of snuggles AND shenanigans. Walkman loves affection and downtime with his people, but he’s not strictly a couch potato. He needs physical exercise, mental stimulation, and opportunities to burn off that big puppy energy.

So, what’s Walkman’s perfect home?

Someone who understands that a big puppy is still a puppy. Someone with the time and patience to continue his training, provide consistency, and include him in everyday life. An active family, an adventurous person, or someone who enjoys working with smart dogs could be an incredible fit.
A playful canine sibling would be a bonus, but the most important thing is having humans who are committed to him.

Walkman isn’t a finished product. He’s a work in progress with an enormous amount of potential. He needs guidance, structure, patience, and a whole lot of love. In return, you’re getting a ridiculously loyal, intelligent, affectionate companion who will probably never let you use the bathroom alone again.
He’s had enough inconsistency in his life. We’re looking for someone who sees the amazing dog he’s becoming and is willing to help him get there.
Walkman doesn’t need a perfect home. He needs the RIGHT home. One that’s willing to make him family, FOREVER.

Nesryn (1 year-old)

Nesryn is a sweet DLH dilute tortie who enjoys being petted and played with. She is a sweetheart who will let you pet her for as long as you’d like. She tends to be a bit shy and is easily intimidated by bolder or aggressive cats, so she would do best with patient people who have a quiet and comforting home for her. Once you make friends with Nesryn and she feels welcome, she will be a delightful companion for your household.

Luna (5 months old)

Luna is a friendly and confident black cat with a little white locket on her neck. She loves to play and jump up beside you to say hello and sit on your lap. Always ready to play and explore, Luna enjoys playing games with the other kittens in her room.

All kittens need some special play time and socialization from a friendly and patient adopter. Keep in mind that kittens often need to burn off energy and bond with other kittens or good-natured, active adult cats, so consider adopting two if you don't already have a companion at home. Luna is ready for a brand new home!

Officer Meow (9 years old)

Officer Meow a handsome orange-and-white boy who is about as gentle and loving as they come. His diabetes is well managed with a very low dose of insulin twice a day and a strictly Fancy Feast Chicken canned-food diet. He loves being near his people and will happily follow you around the house, but he’s also independent enough to curl up for a nap or entertain himself with a favorite toy. Officer Meow isn’t a big fan of other cats and would be happiest as your one-and-only, where he can soak up all the love and attention.

9/26/26 Volunteer Feedback: Sweatpants is a sweet, affectionate girl with a warm and loving personality. She loves her many walks and looks forward to getting out and exploring! She walks nicely on leash and enjoys taking in all the sights and smells along the way, especially when there are squirrels and rabbits to watch. She also absolutely loves playing with her soccer ball!

Sweatpants is a smart girl who is eager to please and enjoys being with her people. She has learned that her crate is a cozy place to relax, and she happily goes in when asked for some quiet time or a nap.

With her loving nature, gentle spirit, playful personality, and beautiful blue eyes, Sweet Pants is sure to make a wonderful addition to a family looking for a devoted and affectionate companion.

8/28/26 Volunteer Feedback: I played chaperone for Sweatpants at the Tractor Supply event recently, and I also spent time with her during a recent shelter shift. She responded well to sit, lay down, and shake, and was very motivated by treats as rewards. She played a little, but treats were definitely her priority. Sweatpants also wanted hugs and is a big nuzzler.

She seemed to respond better to adults than kids in the store, though I’m not sure if that’s a pattern or just how she felt that day. She was great in the car—she liked looking out the side window or watching the front view. Sweatpants jumped into my Jeep as soon as I opened the door and waited for the okay before jumping back out again. She was well‑behaved while driving and stayed calm the whole time.

She was easy to walk on the leash, didn’t pull, and frequently checked in with me. Today we watched a large rabbit come close, stop, then hop across the road. Sweatpants paused, watched it, then checked in with me again. She got a reward, we watched the rabbit leave, and continued our walk with no pulling or barking.

8/15/26 Volunteer Feedback: Sweatpants is a gorgeous and lively girl who looks forward to a family and home of her own. She is an excellent walker on leash, never getting distracted by bikes, barking dogs, people, or critters (except maybe the occasionally enticing rabbit!). Incredibly inquisitive, her nose is to the ground taking in all the smells she possibly can. She warms quickly to all people and is very polite by staying on the ground and sniffing. In the car, she enjoys to keep her head out the window and feel the breeze. Surprisingly, she is a quiet girl who only whined when entering a drive-through for a pup cup (and was very happy to have her treat). She is a very goofy gal and slightly uncoordinated when it comes to the game of fetch. This beautiful girl is content to stick by your side and observe all the moves you make. Sweatpants would make a wonderful addition to any lucky family.
