Looking for the perfect blend of playful and easygoing? Meet Maggie &mdash; a sweet, energetic Rottweiler/Doberman mix, about 2 years old, currently being fostered in Chesapeake, VA and ready to find her forever home. 



 Why We Love Maggie:



Full of Energy &amp; Affection &mdash; Maggie is playful, goofy, and full of personality. Give her plenty of daily exercise and she&#39;ll reward you with a happy, relaxed pup at home. She&#39;s a huge fan of fetch and a great game of tug!



Easygoing at Home &mdash; Maggie is non-destructive and does great when left alone &mdash; no anxious chewing, no messes, just a calm girl who&#39;s comfortable with her own company. She&#39;s also no trouble at all for nail trims or bath time.



Good with Dogs of All Kinds &mdash; Maggie currently lives with a sassy Rottweiler and a grumpy beagle as foster siblings, and she&#39;s also spent time around a stubborn young Great Dane and a high-prey-drive Shepherd. She knows how to read and get along with dogs from all walks of life, and does great with animals 30 lbs and up &mdash; she&#39;s energetic and playful with dogs her own size and bigger.



A Dog Who&#39;s Learning &mdash; Maggie is still working on leash reactivity to quick-moving things and building her confidence, and responds beautifully to reward-based training that reinforces calm behavior. Her foster home also has multiple cats, and Maggie has done well living alongside them &mdash; but since she still gets chase-excitement around cats and small animals when they move quickly, a home with small pets isn&#39;t recommended while she continues learning.

Hello, my name is Garth. I am an energetic 2 &frac12; year old that loves to play with anyone that will play with me. I love my rope, it is my favorite toy. I have not met anyone I that don&rsquo;t like. Everyone that I meet&nbsp;becomes an instant friend. I love to go on walks, have adventures in the woods, car rides. I like my down time as well, as long as I am with my human, I am happy. I like kids but older children would be better&nbsp;due to my energy and not knowing my own strength.

My name is Stacie. I need a mom that has it going on! Will you be that mom (or Dad?) 







It happened on a winter night in late December, not in &rsquo;63, but in 2025. I was in a shelter in Maryland and SSRR wanted to save me. No other rescue saw me as a diamond in the rough. Why am I that diamond in the rough you ask? Well, let me tell you &hellip;I am deaf. There, my secret is out. I wasn&rsquo;t necessarily born deaf. The Vet thinks I had a little touch of distemper when I was a puppy and that may have caused me to lose my hearing. However, my deafness doesn&rsquo;t hamper me in the least bit! I hope you do not see that as a disability, because I don&rsquo;t. On with the story&hellip;. 







So, this foster lady said if I could get to Florida, she would take me. SSRR swooped in, took me out of the shelter, and a chariot of transporters caravaned me to Florida! I arrived in the dark of the night&hellip;10:00 PM. What can I say? I&rsquo;m mellow dramatic. I didn&rsquo;t know what was going on and I was scared. The only thing that I had going for me was I am house trained. Oh, and I loved to eat and still do! I was just what my foster Mom needed as she thrives on dogs like me. So, she set to work. At first, I was shy about being petted on my head, but now I see that as an awesome thing! I love to give licks and kisses with my big old tongue. At 92 pounds, I&rsquo;m a voluptuous girl and I think my foster Mom says I have big old bear paws. At least if I understood English, that is what she would say. 







I have also learned that toys are fun to play with and I love tug of war! My foster mom owns a pet boarding place, and I go to work with her every day. I am with her pretty much 24/7, so we are besties. At least I think so. I just don&rsquo;t understand this closed bathroom door and privacy bit. However, no Rottie does. I also like other dogs, especially the ones who are my size. I need to learn to be a little more delicate around smaller dogs. And if there is another dog in my furever home, I would prefer an easy-going pooch. I cannot hear warning growls, so if I am doing something to annoy another dog, I don&rsquo;t know to stop doing what I was doing. My biggest drawback is I do pull on the leash but I can&rsquo;t understand why it&rsquo;s so important to walk a straight line. However, if my new furever Mom or Dad would work with me on that, I can be a master and walk the line! My foster mom thinks I am perfect and she would love to keep me, but her other bozo Rottie prefers to be the only dog in the house. So, SSRR is trying to find me a new furever home where I could stay. I should get to work on that idea! Or better yet&hellip; could you be my furever family?

Hi, I&#39;m Jada! I&#39;m a sweet, loving and friendly girl as long as properly introduced to&nbsp;humans and dogs. I&#39;ll play for a little bit, explore than I like to lay in sunny spot. I love to do the Rottie lean as I walk with you around the yard but I don&#39;t like to stay out too long. I love to cuddle I&#39;ll bury my head right into you I just can&#39;t get close enough! I might be a little nervous when meeting new people or experiencing new situations but once I warm up, I&#39;m a loyal companion who loves to cuddle.







I&#39;m looking for a quiet home where I can feel safe and loved. I&#39;m a bit unsure of fast movements and big objects still, but I&#39;ll get better over time.







I have a sister named Reina we would love to find a home together. All we need is a stuffed Kong to entertain us until you&#39;re ready for cuddle time! I know most commands, working on leash training and not to jump up when excited.

MEET RIGGS!

​Look at this handsome young man! Riggs has had quite the adventurous last few months. After being found abandoned at a church in Tennessee, he spent six months in a shelter waiting for his forever home. Time was running out, but SSRR stepped in and gave Riggs a new lease on life!

​Over the last month with his foster family, Riggs has grown tremendously. While he is initially timid around strangers, he has shown that his true personality is an absolute sweetie-pie and total goofball. Once he trusts you, he loves to snuggle and give &quot;hugs&quot; by burying his head right in your armpit!&nbsp;

​The Breakdown on Riggs

​Riggs is a stunning, smart, and incredibly loving pup who is ready to find his ultimate pack. Here is what makes him so special:


​Behavior &amp; Training: He walks gently on a leash, responds beautifully to his name, has great recall, and already knows Sit, Stay, and Down.
​House Manners: He is fully house-trained and sleeps soundly in his crate throughout the night. Bonus: He shows absolutely no signs of resource guarding!
​Dog Friendly: He is super dog-friendly! His current foster family has a 1-year-old intact male dog, and the two love to chase, play, and settle down in front of the fan together after a hot day. Riggs is also working hard on developing his &quot;off-switch&quot; during play, showing massive improvement this month.

​Foster Insider Tip: Riggs is actually much less reactive when he is off-leash (like in a park or yard). Because of this, we think he would absolutely thrive in a home with a fenced-in yard to zoom around in (his current foster home doesn&#39;t have one, but he&#39;d love it!).

​The Pet Rock Enthusiast: Riggs likes to pick up rocks and carry them in his mouth during his walks. His foster family is working on breaking this habit, but it&rsquo;s a pretty hilarious little quirk to witness.&nbsp;
